Great work by Sandeep in translation. Honestly I had to skip few pages in the beginning coz the reality was too harsh to bear – but I caught up and now conclude that this is a great read with lot of facts for backup.
Initially there were moments where I wondered whether I should’ve picked the original in Kannada. Is it in any way comparable with the mammoth reading you do about the invaders who came and controlled less than half of what aagarana kings of Vijaynagara controlled.
The story written by the protagonist is very brutal though.

The ending did not satisfy me enough but the novel inside the novel was well written. Read this novel with an open mind, because the author has done a vast amount of research to collaborate his work. The book is by no inch a pro-hindu or anti-islam as some of its enlgish have claimed, but merely puts up the beautiful question of — Can nationalism be strengthened by projecting historical lies. This sets her off on a personal journey into India s history to uncover the many layers of religion, caste and creed.
Is there a translation in Telugu? The characters are normal people but for the authors ability to dwell deep and project an unbiased but unacceptable reactions when faced with truth and ideological questions.

The environment of vicious propaganda against Hinduism that we are living in, it was a must read. Best book which shows the pseudo intellectuals are trying to hide the history and tell us a history where everything is coming up roses.
First of all, is history authentic?
Bhyrappa is a story of a free-spirited and rebellious young woman, Lakshmi, who marries the man she is deeply in love with. This book just tells the truth. This book is about Lakshmi aka Razia, the protagonist, is an intelligent, self confident and progressive woman who converts aaavarana Islam to get aavaarana to Amir against the wished of her father.
A book every self proclaimed pseudo liberal would hate. One has to put oneself in that history to truly understand the context.
